Kaplan University, an online for-profit university, recently launched an iPad application that will allow Kaplan students to access their online college courses on their iPads, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The app, called KU Campus, is available for free at the iTunes store, the article noted. Using the app, students will be able to watch lectures, watch archived seminars, sift through course material, communicate with classmates on discussion boards, check their grades on homework, quizzes and exams, and receive financial aid information and course alerts, the article noted. Students can also use the app to access links to Kaplan’s social networks, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube, according to a description of the app’s features on iTunes.

Kaplan said in the article that they believe they are the first of their kind in the private education sector to implement such an app for their students, the article noted.
