Using game theory to build an online class is an excellent example of what is meant by E-Learning 2.0. However, without the financial incentive, like that of Social Empires, how would an instructor go about setting up and promoting such an elaborate and dynamic online class within a traditional online learning model/budget? If you'd like to explain this as a guest post on my universe of online classes blog, please reach out to me.

Dan Meyer should be on this list :) Outstanding Social Media Teacher - blog is an incredible resource for all math teachers, not to mention YouTube presentations, TED Talks, Twitter, and his ability to respond to emails about content and curriculum (emails from other teachers in his audience at presentations)... and I believe he is not only currently still teaching, but also a PhD student at Standford. Good stuff!

Hi, I read your interesting article about working standing up vs. sitting.
As you wrote, there are several stand-up desks, but working standing up causes a lot of problems, because the vertebral column is under a continue pressure and dehydration.
I invented the Baxaver (the Back-Saver), a device that allows you to alternate the vertical and the inclined postures by standing upright, so you can relax your column without sitting and better using your stand-up desk.
Baxaver refers to a portable telescopic backrest fit for resting the back when standing in the upright position.
It was defined “the kangaroo’s tail for humans”, because the kangaroo is the only other animal that stands upright, but it has a pyramidal structure (legs + tail), while the humans don’t have a solid structure (we have only 2 legs).
Please take a look to the Baxaver’s website (www.baxaver.com).
Thank you for your attention and, awaiting your kind reply, I remain,

Yours truly,

Emanuele Lopopolo

[...] “Here’s how it works: Students generate data as they work through their online classes. The data is then captured by Knewton’s Adaptive Learning Platform (ALP) as students progress through their courses and education, a process similar to the one used by other sites like Pandora, Facebook, and Amazon, collects data and determines user needs and preferences. However, this platform guides students along a specially customized, competency-based path that allows them to move quickly past the knowledge and skills they have mastered and into new concepts they have yet to master. The ALP considers not only student responses and achievements, but also such metrics as how long they spend on a particular task, and what type of learner they are.” (Keathley, Oct. 19, 2011) [...]
