Top Online Universities for Working Students
Working students have always had it the hardest for traditional classroom colleges. First of all, they have to coordinate their work schedule (if it can be altered) to match their school schedule, and then worry about having time to study later at night. Many times, full time working students have to take classes part time, which can be costly and time consuming, especially when you can get college out of the way much faster through other alternatives. However, online education has presented such an alternative for full time students and employees so that they can hold onto their jobs and still earn a degree at the same time.
Many of the top online universities for this type of student are those which are accredited and have been in existence for several years. University of Phoenix and Kaplan are both schools which allow students to pick and choose their schedules, essentially taking classes when they can fit it into their schedule. This is a much more flexible schedule than that of traditional schools, which require students to commute to class and have limited offerings at night if you work a full shift during the day. Many traditional schools do not accommodate this type of student at all, and only offer classes during the day, when most employees have to work. Online education has opened the door to many of these potential students to earn degrees and still manage to keep a job that pays their bills. This has meant a world of difference to many students who do not want to take on thousands of dollars of debt or students who do not wish to relocate for school.
University of Phoenix and Kaplan University have evolved over the last few years to incorporate a new type of online education experience, one which caters more directly to students’ needs. This is vastly different than any previous education endeavor which typically molded itself to the more traditional student who was fully focused on schoolwork. Online universities which have been in existence the longest have the most experience in dealing with students from every walk of life, including working students, stay at home moms, and full time students. Understanding each student’s life schedule is important for an online university, and accommodating to their schedule is an even greater accomplishment for the education community.
While older online universities have many of the kinks worked out for full time students (as well as schedules that match theirs), new online universities pop up all the time and have equally high ratings among students. Finding a top online university that directly meets your needs is no longer a difficult battle, but instead has changed so that students can choose from more options than ever before.
