Affordable Online Colleges and Universities for the Budget-Minded Student
College is one of those necessities of life that we have grown accustomed to paying an arm and a leg for….continuously for the next twenty years after we graduate. However, online colleges have become increasingly more aware of the hole that many students have found themselves in after graduation, and have therefore revamped their programs so that they are more cost-efficient than in previous years. Online colleges have proved to be the biggest bang for your buck in attending a higher education program.
While the price of education has gone up exponentially in recent years, online education prices have maintained a competitive lower price, a feat which is especially important in times of economic uncertainty. Even online classes at traditional universities have followed the trend of lower prices, offering much lower rates that are up to several hundred dollars less than traditional classroom classes. Therefore, the new trend for online education is increasingly geared toward the student and their budget, so that they will not be burdened with years of financial aid debt, like so many students today are burdened with as the result of traditional schools. Even public schools have raised their prices so that they are nearly on par with the cost of private schools.
The cost of education has become ridiculous, and out of reach for many students who do not come from affluent backgrounds. Online education has instead swooped in and offered a cost-efficient alternative to students who previously felt like they did not have a chance to earn a degree because of the high costs associated with it. Additionally, with the recent passing of the federal financial aid bill by Congress (which now offers online students the ability to take out federal loans), more students are inclined to take online classes at a lower cost, than end up paying up to three times as much for other schooling opportunities.
Additionally, while accreditation is an important part of continuing your career and education (schools must be accredited in order to have a substantial degree), online schools that lack accreditation have the best prices for students. Those students who do not need a degree for a future career, but simply require proof of taking classes, may look into schools that are not accredited solely for the purpose of saving money. While most students are very conscious of the importance of accreditation, other students do not require this status in the career world and can therefore be less wary of schools that have exceedingly low tuition fees.
